Iran has introduced a special 10-day visa facility for Pakistani nationals planning to attend the funeral and mourning ceremonies of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The temporary arrangement waives the standard visa fee for eligible applicants but does not allow visa-free entry.
Pakistani travelers must submit a visa application and receive official approval before departing for Iran. Authorities have advised applicants not to purchase confirmed airline tickets until their visas are issued.
Applicants can submit their requests through Iran’s official electronic visa portal by selecting the “Entry Visa” category. They should clearly state that the purpose of travel is to attend Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s funeral, farewell or mourning ceremonies.
Officials have urged applicants to provide complete and accurate information to avoid processing delays or visa rejection. They should also ensure all uploaded documents meet the required specifications.
Required documents include a copy of the Computerized National Identity Card, proof of professional or educational status, and an employment, business or student identification card. Applicants must also upload a recent passport-sized photograph with a white background and a digital copy of a passport valid for at least six months.
Available information indicates the special facility mainly covers travelers arriving by air. However, arrangements for Pakistanis intending to enter Iran through the Taftan land border remain unclear. Some reports also suggest applicants may need separate medical or travel insurance despite the visa fee waiver.
Iranian authorities have encouraged applicants to verify specific requirements with the Iranian Embassy or a consulate before applying. They also advised travelers to use only the official eVisa portal and avoid agents promising guaranteed or instant approvals.
