ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Saturday dismissed speculation about any change in the Prime Minister’s Office after the passage of the federal budget for 2026-27. He described the reports as baseless and urged the public to ignore misinformation.
Speaking to reporters, the senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader said certain elements were spreading fabricated narratives to create instability and confusion in the country. Therefore, he called on people to avoid believing unverified claims.
Responding to a question, Sanaullah firmly rejected rumours regarding the replacement of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He said the reports were misleading and had no basis in fact.
He stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was leading the country in the right direction and had strengthened Pakistan’s standing on the global stage. Moreover, he said the premier’s efforts had earned the country greater recognition and respect internationally.
Sanaullah also praised the prime minister’s sincerity, hard work and commitment to national development. He added that people from different segments of society appreciated the premier’s leadership and determination to address the country’s challenges.
Meanwhile, the adviser said the government remained committed to political dialogue with the opposition. He recalled that his party continued to support the democratic process even when its leaders faced legal cases during its time in opposition.
Commenting on regional developments, Sanaullah said the lifting of sanctions on Iran would positively affect Pakistan’s economy. Furthermore, he said improved relations could create new opportunities for bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
Discussing the political situation in Gilgit-Baltistan, he said the PML-N would play the role of a constructive opposition. He added that the Pakistan Peoples Party had won the highest number of seats and was consulting other political parties to form a coalition government.
