Construction work on the massive Dashikxia Water Project in Xinjiang is progressing rapidly as workers continue building what is expected to become the worldโs tallest concrete-face dam. The giant structure will rise to an impressive height of 247 meters, making it nearly equal to an 80-story building.
A stunning video shared by China Now on social media captured the large-scale engineering activity at the construction site. The footage showed heavy machinery, towering cranes, and ongoing concrete work as crews pushed forward with the ambitious project.
Massive Project Aims to Solve Water Shortages
Officials say the Dashikxia Water Project will play a major role in improving water management across southern Xinjiang. The region has long faced water scarcity challenges due to its dry climate and growing agricultural demand. Therefore, authorities expect the project to strengthen irrigation systems and improve water supply for local communities.

In addition, the dam will support economic growth by helping agriculture, industry, and infrastructure development in nearby areas. Engineers designed the project to store large volumes of water while also improving flood control capacity in the region.
China Expands Mega Infrastructure Development
China continues investing heavily in large infrastructure projects, especially in energy and water management sectors. Consequently, the Dashikxia project has attracted international attention because of its enormous scale and advanced engineering design.
Social media users reacted strongly to the newly released video, with many praising the speed and ambition of the construction work. Meanwhile, experts described the project as another example of Chinaโs focus on long-term infrastructure modernization.
Once completed, the dam is expected to become one of the most significant water management projects in western China.
