Pakistani Trader Secures First Place With 74% Return
Pakistani technology entrepreneur and cryptocurrency advocate Waqar Zaka has won the WEEX TradeFi Masters competition.
The multi-asset trading tournament brought together participants from several countries.
Zaka finished at the top of the international leaderboard after recording a 74 percent return on his trading capital.
He reportedly began with US$100,000 and generated a profit of US$74,000.
His account value reached US$174,000 by the end of the competition.
A South Korean participant reportedly secured second position with a 57 percent return.
A trader from China finished third after achieving a 35 percent return.
Zaka received a new 2026 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon as the championship prize.
The vehicle was presented in Dubai following the completion of the contest.
His victory placed a Pakistani trader ahead of competitors from several major financial markets.
Reports differ slightly over the total number of participants and the duration of the contest.
WEEXโs public announcement described the event as involving more than 2,000 traders over 12 days.
Several Pakistani reports said more than 3,000 traders participated during a 20-day competition.
However, the reports consistently confirm Zakaโs first-place finish, 74 percent return and G-Wagon prize.
Contest Tested Skills Across Multiple Financial Markets
The TradFi Masters competition was not limited to cryptocurrency trading.
Participants traded stocks, foreign exchange products, gold, silver, commodities and digital assets through one platform.
The format required traders to adapt their strategies across different asset classes.
Competitors used their own capital and traded individually.
There were no teams supporting their market decisions.
The tournament focused on trading performance, profitability, strategy and risk management.
The competition also required active participation instead of allowing traders to rely on one long-term position.
Contestants had to complete qualifying trades across designated market categories.
Profitable positions improved their standings, while unsuccessful trades and stop losses affected their scores.
The structure tested whether participants could respond quickly to changing prices and market conditions.
Zaka had moved through several positions during the competition before reaching the top.
Earlier coverage showed him in fifth place while traders from China, South Korea, the United States and Japan occupied leading positions.
He later climbed to second place before eventually taking the championship.
The final result highlighted his ability to trade both traditional and digital financial products.
It also demonstrated the growing popularity of competitive online trading events.
Such competitions increasingly resemble electronic sports tournaments, with rankings determined by measurable individual performance.
However, leveraged trading carries a high risk of financial loss.
Competition results should not be considered a guarantee of future returns or investment success.
Victory Renews Attention on Cryptocurrency Advocacy
Zakaโs international victory has renewed public discussion about his role in Pakistanโs early cryptocurrency debate.
He has promoted Bitcoin, blockchain technology and cryptocurrency education for several years.
He previously urged Pakistani policymakers to explore digital assets and develop clearer cryptocurrency regulations.
In 2021, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government appointed him as a cryptocurrency expert to assist with its digital asset initiatives.
Zaka said at the time that he would provide his services without charging the provincial government.
He also filed Constitutional Petition No. 7146 of 2019 before the Sindh High Court.
The case challenged regulatory uncertainty surrounding cryptocurrency services in Pakistan.
Court proceedings later led to the formation of a committee involving government departments, regulators and Zaka.
The committee was asked to examine whether cryptocurrency could be permitted under Pakistanโs legal and financial framework.
Official court records show that the petition was eventually dismissed for non-prosecution in March 2023.
However, the proceedings formed part of Pakistanโs early institutional discussion over cryptocurrency regulation and related financial services.
Zaka has also used online broadcasts to share live trading sessions and discuss market analysis.
His content frequently focuses on mathematics, probability, price movements and risk control.
The latest victory provides him with one of his most visible achievements in competitive trading.
It also gives Pakistan representation at the top of an international multi-asset tournament.
The result is expected to generate further interest in digital finance and professional trading among his online followers.
