A young American woman has embraced Islam and married a Pakistani man in a village in Punjabโs Sialkot district. The event has drawn attention after reports confirmed her religious conversion and marriage took place shortly after she arrived in Pakistan.
Online relationship leads to cross-border marriage
The woman, identified as Morris Ashley Naikoon, traveled to Pakistan after forming an online relationship with a man from Kamalpur Chishtian village near Pasrur. Their connection began on social media and gradually developed into a serious relationship. As a result, she decided to visit Pakistan to meet him in person.
Moreover, sources say she chose to convert to Islam before marriage. She made the decision voluntarily after arriving in the country. The conversion took place at Shahฤซ Jamia Mosque in Pasrur.
Religious conversion and Nikah ceremony
At the mosque, chief cleric Mufti Noman Rasheed led the declaration of faith. After that, she formally embraced Islam and received the name Khadija. The ceremony marked a major personal transition for her.
Mufti Noman Rasheed then solemnized the Nikah between Khadija and her Pakistani partner, Kif Al-Ura. The marriage followed Islamic traditions and was conducted in English to ensure clear understanding.
Furthermore, the couple set a dowry of $2,000 as part of the marriage agreement. Local community members attended the ceremony, which reflected strong interest in the unusual cross-cultural union.
The bride had recently arrived from the United States before the wedding. The event highlights how social media connections continue to shape personal relationships across borders.
