First Batch to Offer 20 Seats
The University of Health Sciences has approved the syllabus for its PhD Nursing Programme.
The approval was given by the UHS Special Advisory Committee.
The programme is being introduced to expand higher education opportunities for nurses and strengthen the healthcare sector.
According to officials, 20 seats will be available in the first batch.
Candidates will be required to secure 75 percent marks to qualify for the entry test.
The admission advertisement for the PhD Nursing Programme is expected to be released in the first week of July 2026.
Programme Aims to Build Research and Leadership Skills
The main purpose of the programme is to improve teaching, research, and leadership skills among nurses.
Officials said the initiative will help prepare highly qualified nursing professionals for senior academic and healthcare roles.
The programme is expected to create new opportunities for nurses who want to pursue advanced education and professional growth.
It will also support the development of nursing education in Punjab and across Pakistan.

Health Sector Needs Expert Nurses
UHS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore said the health department needs expert nurses.
He said the programme will help produce trained professionals who can contribute to teaching, research, and healthcare leadership.
Director-General Nursing Punjab Tahira Parveen also welcomed the development.
She said the programme will open new doors for higher education in the nursing sector.
The approval of the PhD Nursing Programme is being seen as an important step for professional advancement in nursing.
