LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s daughter Mahnoor is set to tie the knot on Saturday (Sept 12) in Lahore. Her nikkah ceremony will take place at the family residence in Jati Umra.
A family source said that Mahnoor’s marriage has been arranged with a member of a prominent business family. The ceremony will remain a private family event. Only close relatives and extended family members will attend the event.
Mahnoor keeps a low public profile
Mahnoor has largely stayed away from the public spotlight. The Sharif family has not announced details about a formal reception or other wedding celebrations. The wedding comes shortly after Maryam Nawaz travelled to London to attend her daughter’s graduation ceremony. The Punjab chief minister returned to Lahore on Wednesday after attending the graduation event.
Meanwhile, Mahnoor’s brother Junaid Safdar married Shanzeh Ali Rohale in January. She is the granddaughter of former legislator Shaikh Rohale Asghar.
Sharif family wedding celebrations
Junaid’s second marriage featured several days of celebrations attended by family members and guests.
The festivities included a green-themed mehndi, a traditional baraat and an outdoor valima at the Sharif family’s Jati Umra estate.
However, Mahnoor’s upcoming wedding is expected to remain considerably more private.
The Sharif family has yet to announce whether it will hold any reception or additional ceremonies following Saturday’s nikkah.
Mahnoor has maintained a relatively private life despite her mother’s prominent political position and frequent public appearances.
