US President Donald Trump urged Iran to return to negotiations after its missile attack on Israel. He said a final agreement could emerge within days. Moreover, he encouraged Tehran to end hostilities and pursue diplomacy.
Speaking to Fox News on Sunday, Trump addressed Iran directly. “You’ve shot your missiles, that’s enough,” he said. He also urged Iranian leaders to return to talks immediately. According to Trump, negotiators could sign an agreement very soon. He suggested a deal could arrive early next week.
Trump Pushes Diplomatic Solution
Trump stressed that diplomacy remains the best path forward. Furthermore, he expressed confidence in ongoing efforts to reduce tensions. He said a deal with Tehran could happen on Monday. He also mentioned Tuesday and Wednesday as possible dates.
The Iranian missile strike targeted Haifa and Nazareth. It marked the first attack on Israeli territory since April. The strike followed an Israeli operation in Beirut earlier Sunday. As tensions increased, regional leaders monitored developments closely.
President Warns Against Retaliation
Trump also addressed Israeli military actions in Lebanon. He clarified that the United States did not coordinate those operations. Additionally, he voiced concern over strikes targeting Hezbollah positions in Beirut.
The president downplayed the impact of Iran’s missile attack. He stated that the strikes caused no casualties. Therefore, he urged Israel to avoid retaliatory action. Trump warned that further attacks could prolong conflict unnecessarily.
He previously criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s confrontational approach. Consequently, Trump contacted Netanyahu after the Iranian strike. He told Axios that he called the Israeli leader directly. During the conversation, he urged Netanyahu not to attack Iran. His intervention aimed to prevent wider regional escalation.
