U.S. President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran are progressing in an โorderly and constructiveโ manner while confirming that the United States will maintain its blockade until both sides finalize and sign an agreement.
In a post published on his social media platform Truth Social on Sunday, Trump stressed that the restrictions would remain fully enforced throughout the negotiation process. He said both countries must proceed carefully to avoid mistakes and ensure a successful outcome.
Trump also described current relations between Washington and Tehran as increasingly โprofessional and productive.โ However, he repeated his administrationโs position that Iran must never develop or obtain a nuclear weapon under any future agreement.
Furthermore, Trump thanked Middle Eastern countries for their cooperation and support during the negotiations. He added that regional engagement could expand through broader participation in the Abraham Accords and suggested Iran could eventually join the framework.
At the same time, Trump sharply criticised the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement negotiated during the administration of former President Barack Obama. He called the deal one of the worst agreements ever made and accused the previous administration of creating a pathway for Iran to develop nuclear weapons.
In a separate Truth Social post later on Sunday, Trump said the current negotiations were โfar betterโ and would produce a โgood and properโ agreement. He also dismissed critics of the talks, insisting they did not understand the negotiation process and claiming his administration would not repeat past mistakes.
Meanwhile, Iranโs semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that several disagreements remain unresolved, including disputes over the release of Iranโs frozen assets.
