Thai skydiver Tanaboworn Sirikunakornkun, widely known as โSuper Toom,โ has set a new world record after landing on the summit of Ojos del Salado, the worldโs highest active volcano.
According to Guinness World Records, Sirikunakornkun completed the jump and landing at an altitude of 5,442 metres above sea level, establishing the highest skydiving landing ever recorded. As a result, he surpassed the previous record of 5,317 metres, which another skydiver achieved in 2023.
The 48-year-old adventurer described the experience as unforgettable and praised the natural beauty of the volcanic landscape. He said the view from the altitude appeared extraordinary, while the mineral-rich terrain created rainbow-like colours across the mountain surface.
During the jump, Sirikunakornkun also faced an unexpected setback after his mobile phone slipped from his pocket while exiting the aircraft. Nevertheless, he safely completed the record-breaking landing despite the incident.
In addition to skydiving, Sirikunakornkun works as a real estate businessman and university professor in Thailand. Although he only began skydiving in 2024, he has already completed more than 1,250 jumps within a short period.
He explained that he pursued the world record not only as a personal achievement but also as a way to promote Thailand internationally. Furthermore, he said he hoped the accomplishment would inspire pride among the Thai people and encourage others to pursue ambitious goals.
The successful landing has drawn international attention and added another milestone to the growing list of extreme sports achievements recognised worldwide.
