Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on Sunday under a sealed warrant. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom is seeking their extradition to face expanded criminal charges.
UK Adds New Rape And Trafficking Charges
The United States Marshals Service confirmed the arrest of the dual US-UK nationals. British prosecutors also announced additional charges against both brothers.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service, Andrew Tate faces seven rape charges and three sex trafficking charges. Additionally, prosecutors filed three assault charges and 19 further counts involving alleged indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.
Meanwhile, Tristan Tate faces one sexual assault charge, two rape charges, and three trafficking-related charges. Prosecutors said the latest allegations increase the total number of alleged victims to seven.
The Crown Prosecution Service stated the alleged offences occurred between July 2010 and August 2017. Furthermore, both brothers were already facing 21 charges in the United Kingdom involving rape, human trafficking, and actual bodily harm.
Extradition Process Moves Forward
The UK government is now seeking the brothers’ extradition following their arrest in Miami. However, their lawyer, Joseph McBride, said he expects both men to be cleared.
McBride argued that a competent judge would dismiss the allegations after reviewing the evidence. Therefore, he expressed confidence that his clients would ultimately walk free.
Separately, the Tate brothers continue facing unrelated criminal proceedings in Romania. They were arrested there in 2022 on allegations including rape and human trafficking.
Andrew and Tristan Tate gained international attention through their social media presence and lavish lifestyle. However, their online content has drawn widespread criticism for alleged misogynistic views.
Both brothers have consistently denied all allegations against them.
