Pakistanโs private airline South Air has officially launched domestic flight operations across several major cities. The airline has started services connecting Karachi with Islamabad, Bahawalpur, Turbat, and Quetta.
South Air operated eight flights during its initial launch phase. Consequently, air connectivity to Bahawalpur and Turbat has resumed after a lengthy suspension.
The new operations also restore Bahawalpurโs direct air links with major cities after three years. Officials expect the services to improve domestic travel and regional connectivity.
Airline Restores Key Domestic Routes
South Air resumed flights between Karachi and Islamabad as part of its initial schedule. Additionally, the airline launched services linking Karachi with Bahawalpur.
The carrier also operated four flights connecting Karachi with Turbat and Quetta. According to the airline, modern ATR aircraft are being used to provide efficient and reliable domestic services.
Officials believe the new routes will improve travel convenience for passengers. Furthermore, they expect stronger connectivity to support regional business and tourism.
Pakistanโs Aviation Sector Continues Expanding
The launch follows recent growth in Pakistanโs aviation sector through new airline operations. Last year, Saudi low-cost carrier Flyadeal also began operating flights to Pakistan.
Its inaugural flight arrived at Karachiโs Jinnah International Airport from Saudi Arabia. Airport authorities welcomed the aircraft with a traditional water salute upon arrival.
The Civil Aviation Authority had approved Flyadealโs operations in Pakistan in November 2024. The airline now operates routes between Riyadh, Jeddah, and Karachi.
Officials said the expansion of airline services will offer passengers more direct travel options. They also expect greater competition to improve connectivity and customer convenience.
