Regulator Updates Monthly Charges for Distribution Systems
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced an increase in liquefied natural gas prices of up to 28 percent for May and issued a revised notification for consumers connected to the Sui Northern and Sui Southern gas distribution systems. The updated rates will apply during the current month and affect consumers receiving LNG through both networks.
According to the official notification, authorities increased prices for consumers connected to the Sui Southern Gas Company system by $3.51 per mmBTU. Following the revision, officials set the new LNG rate for the Sui Southern network at $16.04 per mmBTU.
Meanwhile, the regulator also introduced a price increase for consumers on the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited system. Officials raised LNG rates on that network by $3.40 per mmBTU, leading to a revised price of $16.98 per mmBTU under the updated structure.
Updated Rates Take Effect During May
Furthermore, officials stated that the revised pricing structure would remain applicable throughout May in accordance with the latest notification issued by the regulator. The announcement represents part of the routine pricing process under which authorities periodically adjust rates based on relevant market and operational considerations.
Consequently, the latest changes are expected to affect consumers connected to both distribution systems. Market observers noted that fluctuations in LNG pricing can influence energy costs and broader utility expenses across different sectors.
In addition, energy analysts explained that adjustments in LNG prices often reflect changes in international market conditions, supply costs, and import-related factors. Such revisions may also affect planning and budgeting considerations for consumers and industries relying on natural gas resources.
Authorities have not announced additional changes beyond the revised rates, while consumers are expected to follow updated pricing details during the current month.
