Ministers Meet in Cairo to Review Islamabad MoU
Foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Egypt met in Cairo on Sunday to discuss regional developments and the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
The meeting was held in a restricted format under the Regional Four framework.
According to Pakistanโs Foreign Office, the talks focused on regional peace, diplomatic coordination, and priority areas of cooperation among the four countries.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the ministers reaffirmed their commitment to dialogue, diplomacy, and regional ownership of shared challenges.
He said Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Egypt are continuing to deepen cooperation for a more peaceful, stable, and connected region.
Ishaq Dar Highlights Collective Diplomacy
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar represented Pakistan at the fourth meeting of the R-4 Foreign Ministers.
Dar said the ministers reviewed progress on the Islamabad MoU and exchanged views on key regional and global developments.
He said the participating countries reaffirmed their commitment to collective efforts for peace, stability, and prosperity.
The meeting also focused on strengthening coordination within the R-4 framework.
Officials said practical cooperation among the four countries remains important for addressing shared political, security, and economic challenges.
Regional Cooperation Gains Fresh Momentum
The R-4 platform brings together key regional states to support diplomacy and coordinated responses to emerging challenges.
During the Cairo meeting, the ministers discussed how the Islamabad MoU could be implemented effectively to support broader regional stability.
Dar also met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the sidelines of the meeting.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and regional cooperation under the R-4 framework.
According to the Foreign Office, a joint statement was issued at the conclusion of the meeting.
The latest engagement reflects growing efforts by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Egypt to promote dialogue-based solutions and regional connectivity.
Officials said the four countries will continue working together to support peace, stability, and shared development across the region.
