Punjab government has announced plans to establish Pakistan’s first University of Sports Sciences. This new institution will promote modern sports education and build a stronger sports culture across the province.
Modern Facilities on the Way
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs M Ali made the announcement during his visit to the Institute of Sports Sciences Punjab in Lahore. He inspected ongoing projects and stressed that the university will come equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Officials aim to introduce advanced training methods that help athletes and coaches perform at higher levels.
M Ali said the department is adopting every modern technique to develop sports in Punjab. He added that the university will serve as a hub for professional sports development and produce skilled graduates who can contribute to national teams.
Training Programs Gain Momentum
Transitioning from planning to action, the secretary also reviewed a capacity-building course currently underway for sports officers and coaches. Highly qualified master trainers and experts with PhD degrees lead these sessions. Participants learn the latest coaching techniques so they can organize professional events and improve player performance in their districts.
These include Director Admin, Abid Shaukat, ISSP Principal, Shaista Qaiser, senior coach, Raisur Rehman, and others who also joined the secretary on the visit. All expressed excitement about the establishment of the university which could revolutionize the field of sports education in the province.
This is in view of the fact that the country needs to improve its sports record on the global scene. It is believed that an institution of this nature would motivate more youngsters into the field by offering them scientific coaching and research avenues.
The government expects that this move would motivate other provinces to also focus on sports infrastructure development. The people of Punjab now have new hopes for building their careers in sports sciences, coaching, and management of sports.
