New Funds Approved Under ADP 2026-27
The Punjab government has allocated funds for the construction of one flyover and six underpasses in Rawalpindi and Gujar Khan. The projects have been included in the Annual Development Programme for 2026-27.
The new allocations are aimed at improving road infrastructure, reducing traffic congestion, and making daily travel easier for commuters in the Rawalpindi region. The projects include key junctions that often face heavy traffic pressure during peak hours.
Rawalpindi to Get Flyover and Four Underpasses
According to the development budget, Rs 100 million has been allocated for the Ammar Chowk flyover in Rawalpindi. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 3 billion. The flyover is part of the Mall Signal-Free Project, which is expected to improve traffic flow on one of the cityโs busiest routes.
The Punjab government has also earmarked Rs 200 million for the construction of underpasses at Race Course and Army Graveyard. These projects are expected to help ease traffic movement and reduce long delays for motorists.
Another Rs 93 million has been set aside for the Tulsa Chowk underpass. The total estimated cost of this project is Rs 2.691 billion. In addition, Rs 100 million has been allocated for the COD underpass, which has an estimated cost of Rs 3.75 billion.
Gujar Khan Projects Also Included
In Gujar Khan, the provincial government has allocated Rs 100 million for two underpasses at Galiana Mor and Technical College Chowk. The combined estimated cost of these two projects is Rs 4.531 billion.
Officials said the projects are part of the governmentโs broader plan to upgrade transport infrastructure across Punjab. The focus is on improving road connectivity, cutting travel time, and supporting smoother traffic movement in growing urban areas.
The latest allocations indicate that the Punjab government is giving priority to signal-free corridors, safer road crossings, and better access for commuters in Rawalpindi and nearby towns.
