Lahore: Punjab Education Management Authority has initiated a province-wide physical verification campaign in public schools to curb fake enrollments and improve record accuracy, officials confirmed.
Province-wide checks to ensure transparency
Authorities began the verification process on May 4 and will continue it until May 21. During this period, officials will physically confirm the presence of students listed in school records. Moreover, the initiative aims to eliminate fictitious enrollments and establish the actual number of students attending classes.
In addition, PIMA has made it mandatory for schools to conduct such verification twice a year, specifically in May and October. The process will align with data recorded in the School Information System, allowing officials to identify discrepancies between reported and actual enrollment figures. Consequently, the move seeks to strengthen transparency across the education sector.
Strict monitoring and accountability measures
Meanwhile, authorities have directed all Assistant Education Officers and District Education Officers to ensure strict compliance with the verification process. Furthermore, officials must submit detailed reports to the education department after completing the exercise.
PIMA has also warned that it will take strict departmental action against institutions found involved in fake enrollments. Therefore, the authority views the campaign as a critical step toward improving accountability and governance in schools.
Overall, education officials believe the initiative will help build a more reliable database, enhance resource allocation, and restore trust in the system by ensuring that reported figures accurately reflect ground realities across Punjab.
