Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology in Lahore on Friday. She described the facility as a major healthcare development.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Maryam announced Pakistanโs first heart transplant at the institute. She said eligible patients would receive the procedure completely free.
The chief minister said heart transplantation normally costs at least $50,000. However, the Punjab government will provide eligible patients with free treatment.
Institute Equipped With Modern Facilities
Maryam said the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology features state-of-the-art intensive care facilities. The hospital includes advanced ICUs and coronary care units.
She also highlighted the newly constructed hybrid catheterisation laboratory. According to her, the facility will provide advanced treatment for heart patients.
Maryam said patients from across Pakistan could seek cardiac treatment at the institute. She added that the hospital would improve access to specialised heart care.
CM Highlights Public Service Responsibilities
The chief minister said political parties should focus on serving the public. She criticised parties that prioritise protests, disorder, or corruption.
Maryam said Allah had given influential people the responsibility to serve others. She described public welfare as a key responsibility of those holding authority.
She added that making decisions for public welfare remains part of her daily responsibilities. The chief minister expressed hope that the new institute would benefit patients nationwide.
The inauguration marks an important development in Punjabโs cardiac healthcare services. The facility aims to provide advanced treatment and improve access for heart patients.
