Xiaomi has opened pre-orders in China for the Mijia Smart Gas Stove 3 Max. The new model puts AI-powered safety at the centre of its design.
The stove is Xiaomi’s first model built around AI safety features rather than cooking performance alone. It is available through JD.com for approximately $400.
AI Helps Prevent Dry Burning
The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Gas Stove 3 Max uses AI for two key safety functions. These include dry-burn protection and off-stove detection.
The right burner features a pressure-sensitive titanium-alloy probe that can withstand temperatures reaching 500°C. The probe remains against the bottom of the pot while continuously monitoring its temperature.
An AI temperature algorithm then analyzes the readings to identify conditions such as an empty or dry pot. If it detects a potential problem, the stove automatically cuts the gas supply and extinguishes the flame.
Moreover, users can receive alerts through the Xiaomi Home app when they are away from the kitchen.
Radar Tracks Activity Around the Stove
The second safety system uses radar to monitor an area extending up to 0.9 metres in front of the stove.
If the user stays away from the stove for 30 minutes, the system sounds a reminder. After 60 minutes, it automatically shuts off the gas supply and sends an app notification.
This feature is designed to provide an additional safety measure when cooking continues without someone nearby.
5,200W Burners and Independent Timers
Both burners can deliver up to 5,200W of power. They use a dual-channel oxygen-supply system with 154 flame holes for more even heat distribution.
Additionally, the burners feature forged brass caps designed to withstand high temperatures without easily deforming.
Each burner has an independent timer that supports settings between one and 180 minutes. This allows users to set cooking periods for dishes such as soups and braised meals.
The right burner can also show the pot’s temperature in real time at the press of a button. This feature could help with cooking methods such as frying and stir-frying.
Xiaomi Claims Better Cooling Efficiency
Xiaomi has added a three-layer air chamber to the stove rack to improve heat management.
According to the company, the system can reduce temperatures around the cooktop by as much as 22°C. This could help limit heat buildup during longer cooking sessions.
The stove has a 75% thermal efficiency rating and meets China’s latest first-tier energy efficiency standard.
Xiaomi says the new model improves efficiency by 12% compared with its previous model. The company also estimates that it could save a typical household around $137 in gas costs over eight years.
Nano Coating Makes Cleaning Easier
The glass cooktop features a lotus-leaf-inspired nano coating designed to repel both oil and water. This coating is intended to make the surface easier to clean after cooking.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has included an adjustable chassis to simplify installation and replacement.
The chassis supports countertop openings between 630 and 710mm wide. It also accommodates openings between 330 and 400mm deep.
As a result, the design aims to make replacing an existing stove easier without requiring additional cutting in many kitchens.
