Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq have been declared “ineligible to play domestic cricket” after failing to complete mandatory fitness tests.
The two Pakistan cricketers will consequently miss the President’s Trophy Grade-I, according to the applicable domestic cricket regulations.
Why Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq Are Ineligible
Under the regulations, players must complete fitness tests through their respective departmental teams before participating in first-class cricket.
However, neither Rizwan nor Imam-ul-Haq underwent the required fitness test for their respective departments. As a result, there are no fitness reports available for either player.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made fitness testing mandatory for teams competing in first-class cricket. Teams must also submit the relevant fitness reports before players can participate.
Therefore, the absence of the required tests and corresponding reports has made both cricketers ineligible for domestic cricket.
Rizwan Set to Miss Sui Northern Gas Match
Rizwan serves as the vice-captain of Sui Northern Gas and was expected to lead the side in its opening match.
He was due to take charge because regular captain Shan Masood is unavailable for the first round.
Sui Northern Gas is scheduled to begin its campaign against State Bank tomorrow. However, Rizwan’s failure to complete the required fitness assessment means he will not be eligible to feature.
The development could therefore affect the team’s plans for its opening fixture in the competition.
Imam-ul-Haq Also Faces Domestic Cricket Setback
Imam-ul-Haq, meanwhile, is the captain of OGDC and was scheduled to lead the team in its opening match.
OGDC is set to face PTV tomorrow in its first fixture.
However, Imam also did not undergo the mandatory fitness test for his departmental team. His department consequently does not have the required fitness report on record.
Both players now face the same eligibility issue ahead of the opening round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I.
The requirement applies to first-class cricket participation, making the fitness assessment and submission of its report essential for domestic competition.
