ISLAMABAD: Speculation over a possible understanding between PTI and the government has intensified, although senior party leaders deny any confirmed breakthrough.
PTI leaders say the party has never closed its doors to negotiations. However, they maintain that no fresh development has emerged so far.
Meanwhile, discussions in the PTI parliamentary partyโs WhatsApp group indicate that the government may have offered a meeting at Parliament House.
According to party sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif could attend the meeting and hear PTI lawmakersโ grievances.
Therefore, PTI has convened its parliamentary party meeting today to discuss recent developments and assess prospects for negotiations.
A senior party leader said Senator Mashal Yousafzai informed colleagues about a call from MNA Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.
According to the leader, Chaudhry offered talks and said the prime minister would participate in the meeting at Parliament House.
The development follows Senate Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbasโs earlier call for talks at a neutral venue.
However, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja dismissed reports of an agreement as speculation.
He said PTI remains ready for dialogue with political parties and other stakeholders if the government takes the first step.
Moreover, Raja stressed that no major decision could proceed without Imran Khanโs approval.
PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram also confirmed that the party is not currently engaged in formal negotiations with the government.
