ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue collected Rs15.5 billion in advance income tax from property transactions during July 2026.
The tax came under Sections 236C and 236K, which cover the purchase and sale of immovable property.
Meanwhile, property transactions reached around 90,000 during July, marking a significant increase compared with the same month last year.
Sources said around 60,000 property transactions took place in July 2025.
Therefore, property buying and selling increased by nearly 50% during the first month of the current fiscal year.
The figures indicate a strong revival in Pakistanโs property market after the start of the new fiscal year.
Moreover, the substantial increase in transactions helped the FBR collect significant revenue through advance income tax.
The rise also suggests stronger activity among property buyers and sellers across the country.
However, the latest figures reflect transaction activity for July and may provide an early indication of market trends during fiscal year 2026-27.
Meanwhile, increased property transactions could support government revenue collection if the upward trend continues in the coming months.
The FBRโs July collection also highlights the importance of property-related taxes in generating revenue for the national exchequer.
Overall, the latest data points to a notable turnaround in Pakistanโs property sector at the beginning of the new fiscal year.
