LAHORE: A local court in Lahore today granted the physical remand of Raza Dar and four other suspects in a high-profile case involving the alleged kidnapping, rape, and ransom demands against two foreign women. Raza Dar is a relative of the Deputy Prime Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar. Raza Dar’s involvement in this high-profile case as an accused has brought it to the limelight in the country and abroad.
Lahore police presented the accused before Judicial Magistrate Azhar Mahmood at the Cantt Kachary. During the hearing, the court recorded their attendance and directed the suspects to remove the masks covering their faces.
The prosecution told the court that both foreign women had identified Raza Dar in their statements. Prosecutors argued that the case had damaged Pakistan’s international image and required a detailed investigation. They requested a 14-day physical remand to question the suspects and collect further evidence.
After hearing the arguments, the judicial magistrate reserved the verdict. The court later approved the physical remand of Raza Dar, Hassan Raza, Sikandar Khan, and Sajid Ali until July 8. Police were also directed to produce the accused before the court again at the next hearing.
The case has received significant public attention because it involves foreign nationals and serious allegations of kidnapping, rape, and ransom. Investigators continue to examine the evidence as authorities face growing pressure to ensure a transparent investigation and hold those responsible accountable under the law.
