Embassies Directed to Speed Up Job Search
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed Pakistani embassies abroad to accelerate efforts to find employment opportunities for Pakistani workers. He said the focus should be on young people who are seeking better jobs in foreign markets.
The prime minister issued the directions while chairing a review meeting on youth employment. He also ordered the full digitisation of the Protectorate of Immigration system to make the overseas employment process faster, easier, and more transparent.
Skills Training and Certifications to Be Expanded
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistanโs workforce has strong potential. He said the government is working to provide international-standard education, skills training, and global job access to young people.
He directed the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, NAVTTC, and the Prime Ministerโs Youth Programme to arrange skills training, language courses, and professional certifications for workers seeking jobs abroad. He also instructed institutions to improve coordination with other countries so Pakistani certifications can match international requirements.
The prime minister said language training should be ensured for countries where jobs are available for Pakistani skilled workers. He also asked Pakistani embassies to provide updated data on job openings in different countries and raise awareness about overseas employment opportunities.
Digital Youth Hub to Share Global Job Data
Officials briefed the meeting that 800,000 young people have registered with the Digital Youth Hub. The meeting was told that job opportunities are available in construction, agriculture, tourism, health, transport, biotechnology, manufacturing, shipbuilding, information technology, engineering, nursing, pharmaceuticals, and food processing.
Officials said training programmes are already underway to prepare Pakistani workers for these sectors. Pakistani embassies will share details of available jobs, required skills, and qualifications through the Digital Youth Hub portal.
The prime minister also sought a report on the performance of technical and vocational training institutions working under NAVTTC. He also asked for updates on the establishment of Country of Destination Centres.
