The federal government has increased petrol and high-speed diesel prices, with the new rates taking effect from August 19.
Petrol has become Rs3.34 more expensive per litre, while high-speed diesel has increased by Rs5.27 per litre.
New Petrol Price Takes Effect
Under the revised petroleum pricing mechanism, petrol will now cost Rs334.54 per litre. The previous petrol price stood at Rs331.20 per litre. Therefore, motorists will pay Rs3.34 more for every litre from August 19.
The revised rates will take effect after midnight on Tuesday, meaning consumers will face higher prices from Wednesday.
Diesel Price Also Increased
The government has also raised the price of high-speed diesel by Rs5.27 per litre. The new diesel price has reached Rs395.69 per litre, compared with the previous rate of Rs390.42.
As a result, diesel users will also face higher fuel expenses under the latest pricing revision.
Revised Petroleum Prices
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products for August 19. The revision was made in line with the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division issued the notification confirming the new rates. The latest increase means both petrol and high-speed diesel will become more expensive for consumers nationwide.
The revised prices will remain applicable from August 19 under the latest petroleum pricing decision.
