The Pakistan Cricket Board approved Rs. 6.7 billion for major cricket infrastructure upgrades across Pakistan.
The decision includes extensive improvements at Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Stadium. Moreover, the approval came during the 84th PCB Board of Governors meeting in Lahore.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi chaired the meeting and endorsed the development plans. The initiative supports Pakistan’s efforts to modernize leading cricket venues.
Karachi Stadium Renovation Plans
Previously, the PCB estimated Karachi stadium renovations would cost around Rs. 4.8 billion.
Officials shared those figures with the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat. Furthermore, authorities planned to open project tenders shortly afterward.
The renovation will re-profile spectator stands to improve visibility and comfort. Workers will also build a complete safety moat around the playing area.
Additionally, the project includes upgraded concourses and improved public convenience facilities. Engineers will upgrade civil, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
The project also covers external development work across the stadium. Consequently, spectators should enjoy a safer and more comfortable experience.
Strengthening Cricket Infrastructure
The upgraded venue aims to meet international standards for major ICC tournaments. Therefore, Karachi could host more prestigious international matches.
Earlier, the PCB allocated Rs. 18 billion for three major stadium upgrades. Those venues include Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, renovation work continues across the selected stadiums. The latest approval reflects the PCB’s commitment to modern cricket infrastructure.
As a result, players and spectators can expect significantly improved facilities. The board continues investing in projects that strengthen Pakistan’s international cricket standing.
