The weather may turn unsettled across several parts of Pakistan, as rain and thunderstorms are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab, and other northern areas. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory, warning residents of possible showers, strong winds, and thunderstorms over the next six hours.
KP Braces for Rain, Strong Winds and Thunderstorms
According to the PMD’s Sunday night advisory, rain-bearing weather conditions were prevailing across much of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Consequently, several districts could experience wet weather, with thunderstorms and strong winds accompanying the expected rainfall.
The forecast covers Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Bajaur, and Kurram. In addition, rain is expected in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Swat, Malakand, Buner, and Shangla.
The advisory also includes Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Chitral, Kohat, and Hangu, along with adjoining areas. Therefore, residents across these districts should remain alert as weather conditions develop.
Rain Forecast for Upper and Central Punjab
Meanwhile, the Met Office has forecast rain in several parts of Punjab, particularly in the province’s northern and central areas. The affected locations include Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Attock, and Mianwali.
However, rainfall intensity may vary between locations. Some areas could receive heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms, according to the advisory.
As a result, residents should monitor local weather conditions and remain prepared for changing circumstances during the forecast period.
PMD Advises Public to Take Precautions
The weather department has urged the public to take necessary precautionary measures in view of the expected rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms. It has also advised people to stay informed through its latest forecasts and weather advisories.
Although the forecast covers a six-hour period, conditions may differ across the listed districts. Residents should therefore follow official updates to remain aware of any changes in the expected weather.
With several areas potentially facing unsettled conditions, staying informed and taking sensible precautions remain important as the forecast period unfolds.
