Pakistan and the United States have agreed to expand cooperation in the maritime sector and form a joint working group to strengthen bilateral collaboration. The group will focus on maritime development, trade, investment, and logistics.
The agreement emerged during a meeting between US Chargรฉ dโAffaires Natalie A. Baker and Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry in Islamabad. Both sides discussed ways to deepen economic ties through improved cooperation in ports, shipping, and maritime infrastructure.
Officials agreed that closer engagement in the maritime sector can support trade growth and improve regional connectivity. The discussions highlighted opportunities in port development, logistics networks, and investment-friendly policies.
During the meeting, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry invited American investors to explore Pakistanโs maritime and logistics sectors. He said Pakistan welcomes US participation in the blue economy. He also stressed the need for stronger global partnerships to modernise the countryโs port infrastructure.
The minister noted that increased US investment could strengthen bilateral economic relations. He added that such cooperation could open new channels for trade and commercial activity. He emphasized that Pakistan aims to position its ports as regional trade hubs.
Natalie A. Baker reaffirmed Washingtonโs commitment to deeper economic engagement with Pakistan. She expressed interest in expanding maritime development initiatives and long-term partnerships. She also acknowledged Pakistanโs role in promoting regional peace and stability.
