Pakistan will host two ITF W15,000 Womenโs Futures tournaments in 2026. The Pakistan Tennis Federation announced the events on Monday. The tournaments will begin in Islamabad on October 5, 2026. They will take place ahead of the prestigious Billie Jean King Cup.
Historic Milestone for Womenโs Tennis
The Pakistan Tennis Federation described the development as a significant achievement. It will be the first time Pakistan hosts two consecutive ITF W15,000 Womenโs Futures tournaments. Consequently, the events mark an important step for womenโs tennis development.
The federation said the initiative reflects its commitment to promoting female athletes. Moreover, the tournaments will provide international competition opportunities within the country. Local players will gain valuable experience without traveling abroad.
Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation, welcomed the announcement. He said the federation previously created opportunities through ITF Menโs Futures tournaments. Furthermore, he expressed pride in hosting international womenโs competitions in Pakistan.
According to Qureshi, the tournaments will allow players to earn valuable ranking points. They will also gain international exposure while competing on home courts. Additionally, the events will help athletes prepare for future international competitions.
Local Players Expected to Benefit
Several leading Pakistani players are expected to participate in the tournaments. These include Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab, Soha Ali, and other emerging talents. As a result, local athletes will receive greater competitive exposure.
The Pakistan Womenโs Tennis Association continues supporting womenโs tennis growth nationwide. Established in 2024, the organization focuses on developing future talent. Association President Asma Khawar Khawaja said the tournaments strengthen Pakistanโs standing in international tennis.
Meanwhile, Secretary General Col Zia-ud-Din Tufail described the events as a major achievement. He emphasized that hosting consecutive tournaments will significantly benefit local players.
