Power Division Launches Consumer-Friendly Billing System
ISLAMABAD: Distribution Companies (DISCOs) across Pakistan have begun introducing a redesigned electricity bill format as part of the Ministry of Energyโs broader consumer-focused reform programme.
According to a statement issued by the Power Division, the new billing format aims to make electricity bills easier to read, understand and navigate. Officials said the redesigned layout presents essential information in a clearer and more structured manner, allowing consumers to quickly review their electricity consumption, billing details and payment obligations.
The initiative follows years of feedback from consumers and stakeholders who frequently complained that the previous bill format was difficult to understand due to excessive information, technical terminology and a crowded design.
Authorities stated that the reform reflects the governmentโs commitment to improving transparency, service delivery and customer satisfaction within the power sector.
New Layout Focuses on Clarity and Accessibility
Under the updated system, key information such as total payable amounts, due dates and electricity consumption figures is displayed more prominently.
Officials explained that the simplified design reduces visual clutter and improves readability for consumers from all educational and professional backgrounds. Information has been reorganized to ensure that users can understand their bills at a glance without searching through multiple sections.
In addition, the new format incorporates QR codes that provide access to supplementary information and digital services, helping consumers interact more efficiently with utility providers.
Implementation Begins Across Multiple Distribution Companies
The ministry confirmed that the new billing format has already been introduced by Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) and Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO).
Meanwhile, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) is expected to begin issuing the redesigned bills from next week.
Officials added that other distribution companies are currently completing procurement and implementation procedures and will gradually adopt the new format once preparations are finalized.
The Power Division expressed confidence that the redesigned bills will improve public understanding of electricity charges and contribute to a more transparent and consumer-friendly billing system across Pakistan.
