Foreign Coaches Given Full Selection Authority
The Pakistan Hockey Federation has introduced a strict fitness policy as preparations intensify for the upcoming Hockey World Cup.
The federation has made it clear that no player will receive special treatment. Physical fitness will remain a key requirement for selection in the national squad.
In a major decision, the PHF has handed complete World Cup selection authority to the foreign coaching staff. The coaches will independently assess every player before choosing the final team.
The decision aims to ensure that squad selection is based on fitness, performance and discipline. Reputation or previous experience alone will not guarantee a place in the World Cup lineup.
Every Player to Face Detailed Fitness Tests
All players attending the national training camp will undergo comprehensive physical assessments.
The coaching staff will prepare individual fitness reports for every player. These reports will examine stamina, speed, strength, recovery and overall physical condition.
Only players who meet the required fitness standards will be considered for final selection.
Those who fail to reach the set targets could be dropped, regardless of their seniority or past performances.
The PHF believes strong fitness levels are essential for competing against leading international teams. Modern hockey requires constant movement, rapid transitions and sustained intensity throughout the match.
Islamabad Camp Focuses on Fitness and Performance
Pakistanโs national hockey training camp is currently underway in Islamabad.
Foreign coaches are conducting two training sessions every day. The sessions are designed to test endurance, improve match fitness and strengthen tactical understanding.
Players are being monitored closely during drills, practice matches and physical assessments.
The coaching staff will continue evaluating the squad before submitting its final recommendations.
The PHF hopes the strict policy will produce a disciplined, competitive and fully prepared team for the World Cup.
