ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has assured its citizens deported or returned from the United Arab Emirates that it will assist them in recovering any assets or property left behind, the Foreign Office said on Thursday.
The assurance came in response to growing concerns among affected Pakistanis regarding access to their belongings and financial assets in the UAE. Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said individuals facing such issues could contact Pakistanโs diplomatic missions for guidance and support.
He stated that anyone whose assets or property remain in the UAE should approach Pakistani embassies or consulates. He added that the government would make every effort to address their concerns and facilitate the recovery process through appropriate channels.
Furthermore, Andrabi rejected reports suggesting that a very large number of Pakistanis had been affected. He described such claims as exaggerated and said available figures indicated that between 3,000 and 4,000 individuals had been deported or returned. According to him, the number was significantly lower than estimates circulating in some sections of the media.
The Foreign Office also expressed confidence in the UAEโs administrative and judicial institutions. Officials said Pakistan believes legitimate claims related to private assets and property can be resolved through established legal and administrative procedures.
Moreover, Andrabi praised the credibility and effectiveness of the UAEโs governance and legal framework. He said Pakistan fully recognises the strength of the countryโs institutions and trusts that lawful claims will receive proper consideration.
The spokesperson further noted that UAE authorities have no intention of withholding private assets belonging to individuals. Therefore, he said there should be no uncertainty regarding the recovery of legally owned property through the appropriate mechanisms.
Meanwhile, Pakistanโs diplomatic missions in the UAE have been directed to treat the matter as a priority. The Foreign Office said officials are closely monitoring developments and remain committed to assisting affected citizens.
As a result, Pakistani authorities expect that genuine cases involving property and assets will be resolved through cooperation with UAE institutions and continued diplomatic engagement.
