Pakistan’s military leadership has issued a strong warning against attempts to create unrest or a situation similar to May 9.
The warning came during the 277th Corps Commanders’ Conference at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Friday. Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir chaired the meeting.
According to the military’s media wing, the commanders reviewed the prevailing national security environment. The forum also stressed the importance of maintaining internal stability.
Army Warns Against May 9-Like Situation
The commanders resolved that attempts to create agitation or a “May 9-like” situation would face a decisive response.
The forum said such attempts would be dealt with under the rule of law, without hesitation or discrimination.
The warning comes as the military leadership continues to emphasise internal stability alongside broader security challenges.
The conference also reviewed Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism efforts and operational preparedness.
Focus on Terrorism From Afghanistan
The forum also discussed terrorism that Pakistan says originates from Afghan territory.
The commanders reaffirmed Pakistan’s stated right to self-defence and targeted action against terrorism emanating from Afghanistan.
According to the military statement, the Taliban leadership would bear responsibility for the consequences of facilitating terrorism on behalf of India.
The commanders also reviewed counterterrorism operations and stressed the need to strengthen intelligence-based measures.
In addition, Field Marshal Asim Munir directed commanders to improve operational capabilities through modern technology, enhanced training and multi-domain integration.
Kashmir Position Reiterated
The Corps Commanders’ Conference also reviewed developments concerning Kashmir.
The military leadership reiterated Pakistan’s stated position on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The forum supported resolving the dispute in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Meanwhile, the conference offered Fateha for the martyrs of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and civil society.
Makkah Defence Alliance Discussed
The commanders also discussed regional and international developments during the meeting.
The forum welcomed the Makkah Defence Alliance agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. The military leadership described the agreement as significant for defence cooperation among the three countries.
The commanders further expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia over Houthi attacks against the Kingdom.
They reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the security and sanctity of Haramain Sharifain.
Field Marshal Asim Munir Stresses Operational Readiness
In his concluding remarks, Field Marshal Asim Munir praised the commanders for maintaining operational preparedness.
He directed them to continue strengthening intelligence-based operations and improve combat capabilities.
The military leadership also highlighted modern technology, training and multi-domain integration as important areas for enhancing operational capacity.
Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed confidence that the armed forces remained prepared to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security.
