KARACHI: A major controversy has surfaced in Sindhโs Food Department after authorities reported the disappearance of more than 200,000 wheat bags from government storage facilities across several districts of the province.
According to reports aired by 24NewsHD TV, officials detected missing wheat stocks in warehouses located in Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jacobabad, Kashmore-Kandhkot, and Qambar Shahdadkot. The incident has prompted urgent administrative action and intensified scrutiny of the departmentโs storage management system.
Moreover, authorities confirmed that three food department officers have been dismissed from service, while several others received final show-cause notices instructing them to submit explanations within seven days.
Dismissals Follow Missing Stock Reports
In Qubo Saeed Khan, officials reported 65,393 missing wheat bags, leading to the dismissal of food officers Amanullah Magsi and Zia Ali Magsi. Similarly, authorities removed food officer Zaheer Ahmed Brohi after discovering that 10,300 wheat bags were unaccounted for in Kandhkot.
Meanwhile, officials issued a final show-cause notice to food officer Murtaza Unar after authorities reported 39,550 missing wheat bags from warehouses in Darbelo.
Further irregularities also emerged in other areas. Authorities reported 6,194 missing wheat bags in Moro, 5,376 missing bags at Lakhra Road godowns, and another 5,154 missing bags from storage facilities in Kotri.
Investigation Expands Across Districts
Officials described the matter as a serious administrative irregularity within the provincial food department. Furthermore, investigators have begun examining records and storage operations to determine the scale of alleged mismanagement and identify those responsible.
Authorities stated that further disciplinary measures could follow as inquiries continue across multiple districts.
