US authorities have launched a large immigration enforcement drive called โOperation Checkmateโ that targets truck drivers allegedly working or living in the country without legal permission. The operation led to dozens of arrests across enforcement zones in the United States.
According to a Private channel report, US immigration authorities carried out the operation as part of wider efforts to detect violations of immigration and transport laws. The campaign focused on commercial drivers who may lack valid documentation.
US Customs and Border Protection confirmed that officials detained 36 truck drivers during the operation. Authorities said at least 30 of those arrested hold Indian nationality. The agency said it continues to investigate similar violations in other locations.
Reports in the Times of India stated that several detainees operated commercial vehicles without valid driving licences or proper legal papers. Officials said they linked these violations to broader concerns over document misuse and illegal employment.
Acting Chief Patrol Agent Dustin Caudle of the Yuma Sector said unlawful residency and work can create public safety risks. He said authorities closely monitor individuals involved in commercial transport for compliance with US laws.
Authorities have started legal proceedings against those detained. They also plan deportation under US immigration rules as cases move forward through the system.
The operation forms part of a wider US push to strengthen immigration enforcement. Officials continue to focus on issues such as illegal employment, document fraud, and border security management.
Reports also show that several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Canada, and the United States, have deported foreign nationals in recent years for immigration violations. These cases often involve visa overstays, document fraud, or other legal breaches.
Experts say global migration pressure and tighter border controls have increased deportation cases worldwide in recent years.
