The Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) officially released its Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2025 on Wednesday. The publication highlighted that member companies collectively invested 15 billion rupees in social welfare initiatives during the fiscal year. This massive funding represents a notable 10 percent increase compared to the previous cycle. Consequently, these targeted corporate investments directly benefited more than 44 million people across various underprivileged communities in Pakistan.
Furthermore, the chamber directed approximately 4.5 billion rupees of the total budget toward essential flood relief and rehabilitation efforts nationwide. OICCI members also contributed over 13 million man-hours to various social sector activities by collaborating closely with 270 prominent civil society organizations. Meanwhile, the comprehensive report noted that these corporate investments align directly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to maximize their long-term developmental impact.
Specifically, healthcare initiatives attracted the largest share of non-flood spending, with a substantial 6.5 billion rupees supporting free medical services and hospital infrastructure. Education-related programs received 1 billion rupees to fund student scholarships, vocational training, and school infrastructure improvements for 900,000 beneficiaries. Additionally, member companies allocated 645 million rupees to poverty alleviation initiatives. These programs successfully provided microfinance opportunities and critical social protection programs to over 1.2 million citizens.
Ultimately, the report emphasized that these extensive welfare operations spanned the entire country, with Sindh and Punjab receiving nearly half of all interventions. OICCI Secretary General M. Abdul Aleem stated that these findings reflect the deep commitment of foreign investors to support local communities beyond their basic commercial business operations. UNDP Resident Representative Dr. Samuel Rizk also praised the private sector leadership for effectively advancing Pakistan’s environmental, social, and governance objectives.
