ISLAMABAD: A newly surfaced video showing Pakistani nationals held captive by Somali pirates has heightened concerns about their well-being and renewed calls for urgent government action to secure their release.
According to available information, the vessel Owner 25 departed from Pakistan on February 17 and was reportedly hijacked on April 21. The latest footage shows at least 10 Pakistani hostages appealing to authorities for immediate assistance and a safe return home.
In the video, one of the captives, identified as Yasir Khan, urges Pakistanโs military and government leadership to take swift action for their release. He claims that the hostages are facing extremely difficult conditions, including severe shortages of food and drinking water.
The captives allege that they receive food only once every 24 hours. Furthermore, they claim they are being forced to consume unsafe water, raising concerns about their health and safety as their captivity continues.
The hostages also appealed to the government to intensify efforts aimed at securing their freedom. They called on authorities to engage with all available channels and make progress toward resolving the situation to ensure their safe return.
Meanwhile, anxiety among the families of the abducted Pakistanis continues to grow. Relatives say more than 43 days have passed since the vessel was seized and their loved ones were taken hostage. As a result, they have urged the government to take immediate and effective measures to bring the captives home safely.
The emergence of the new video has further intensified fears among family members, who remain desperate for updates on the hostagesโ condition. They continue to demand swift intervention from the authorities and greater efforts to secure the release of those being held.
Officials have yet to provide detailed information on ongoing recovery efforts, while concerns remain high over the welfare of the Pakistani nationals as they remain in captivity off the coast of Somalia.
