Prime Minister Raises Concerns During Security Cabinet Meeting
JERUSALEM: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly criticized senior military officials during a Security Cabinet meeting after details emerged regarding a canceled operation targeting Iran.
According to Israeli media reports, Netanyahu expressed frustration over a letter issued by Israeli Air Force Commander Maj.-Gen. Omer Tischler that revealed information about the planned mission. The report stated that the operation had been called off approximately one hour before it was scheduled to begin.
During the meeting, Netanyahu reportedly told IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir that the disclosure was inappropriate and harmful to national interests. He argued that releasing operational details could negatively affect Israelโs strategic position and international relationships.
The remarks came amid ongoing regional tensions and heightened scrutiny of military decision-making following recent developments involving Iran and Lebanon.
Letter Details Military Readiness and Strategic Challenges
In the letter, Tischler reportedly referenced several military operations carried out during recent weeks, including actions involving Iran and Hezbollah-linked targets.
The Air Force commander emphasized that security conditions remain fluid and that the military continues to focus on defending Israelโs national interests amid evolving regional circumstances.
He also expressed confidence in Air Force personnel, stressing the importance of preparedness, professionalism and unity during a period of uncertainty.
Military officials have not publicly commented further on the reported cancellation of the planned operation.
Israel Continues Operations Following Cross-Border Attacks
Meanwhile, Israeli officials reiterated that recent military actions in Lebanon were carried out in response to attacks directed toward Israeli territory.
Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz previously stated that Israel would not tolerate cross-border fire and would continue acting against threats to national security.
The Israeli military said recent strikes targeted facilities it identified as Hezbollah command and operational centers. According to officials, the sites were allegedly being used to coordinate activities against Israeli civilians and security forces operating near the border.
As regional tensions persist, Israeli political and military leaders continue to balance operational security concerns with public communication regarding ongoing defense activities across multiple fronts.
