The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise and Taxation Department has completed the profiling of around 130,000 non-custom-paid (NCP) vehicles across Malakand Division. The exercise forms part of a province-wide effort to establish a centralized record of such vehicles.
The department has set up profiling centers at key locations throughout the division. Officials said the initiative is being carried out under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s policy and directives from the Excise and Taxation Department.
130,000 NCP Vehicles Profiled Across Malakand
Director Excise and Taxation Malakand Region Fazal Ghafoor said thousands of NCP vehicles are operating across the division. Therefore, the profiling drive aims to document these vehicles and create a centralized database.
According to the official, authorities have so far profiled approximately 130,000 vehicles. However, some NCP vehicles have yet to be documented through the ongoing exercise.
Ghafoor urged owners of the remaining undocumented vehicles to use the available profiling facilities before the deadline expires. He also warned that authorities could take legal action against owners whose vehicles remain undocumented after the deadline.
Why Is the Excise Department Profiling NCP Vehicles?
The department is conducting the exercise to improve documentation of NCP vehicles operating across Malakand Division. By creating a centralized record, authorities aim to maintain more accurate information about these vehicles.
The profiling process is also intended to support law enforcement agencies. In particular, the database could help authorities trace vehicles connected with criminal activities, including theft.
As a result, the department considers accurate vehicle records an important part of the ongoing documentation drive.
Excise Department Contacts Vehicle Businesses
The Excise and Taxation Department has also approached owners of vehicle bargaining centers and car showrooms across Malakand Division. Officials have directed them to ensure that NCP vehicles in their possession undergo the profiling process.
This step extends the documentation effort beyond individual vehicle owners. Consequently, businesses dealing with such vehicles have also been brought into the profiling process.
Ghafoor stressed that owners of undocumented NCP vehicles should complete the process before the deadline. Otherwise, they could face legal action under the department’s warning.
Centralized Record to Track NCP Vehicles
The profiling exercise is expected to give authorities a clearer record of NCP vehicles operating across Malakand Division. It will also provide a centralized source of information for relevant authorities.
So far, around 130,000 vehicles have been profiled. Nevertheless, the department continues to encourage owners of undocumented vehicles to complete the process.
The exercise remains part of the wider provincial effort to document NCP vehicles. For vehicle owners who have not yet completed profiling, the department has advised them to use the available facilities before the deadline.
