The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan’s sister, Noreen Niazi, over controversial remarks targeting state institutions. Authorities directed her to appear before investigators on Sunday in Islamabad.
NCCIA Issues Notice Over Online Content
The NCCIA issued the notice on Saturday through its Cyber Crime Reporting Centre. According to the agency, Noreen allegedly shared false, offensive, and inflammatory content on social media.
The notice stated that the posts sought to defame state institutions and promote misleading narratives. Consequently, the agency ordered her to appear at 12pm on July 20.
Additionally, officials warned that failing to comply could invite legal action. The notice cited Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860, regarding non-compliance with official summons.
Remarks Followed Statements On Military Conflict
The summons followed controversial remarks by Noreen concerning Marka-e-Haq and the Pakistan Army. The comments circulated widely across social media on Friday.
Marka-e-Haq refers to the military conflict between Pakistan and India from April 22 to May 10, 2025. The confrontation began after India launched strikes following allegations linking Pakistan to an attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan rejected those allegations and responded militarily, leading to an armed confrontation between the two countries. The conflict ended on May 10 following United States mediation.
In her remarks, Noreen alleged the conflict was coordinated with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She also claimed the confrontation aimed to secure Pakistan’s recognition of Israel.
Furthermore, she alleged that contacts existed between Pakistan and Israel and linked the matter to the Abraham Accords. Authorities have not publicly commented on the substance of those allegations beyond issuing the summons.
