Pensioners can obtain certificates through PakID app, NADRA centres, Union Councils and e-Sahulat outlets without repeated bank visits
ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a digital Proof of Life Certificate service, allowing pensioners to complete mandatory verification through the PakID mobile application and thousands of service points nationwide.
According to NADRA, the initiative particularly targets elderly, bedridden and differently abled pensioners who face difficulties travelling to banks or pension offices for recurring verification.
The authority launched the facility on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharifโs directives in coordination with relevant federal institutions, including the Controller General of Accounts and Military Accountant General.
PakID Allows Verification From Home
Pensioners can obtain their Proof of Life Certificate through the PakID mobile application without visiting an office. Moreover, those unable to operate the application can ask a family member to complete the prescribed identity-verification process through their PakID account.
NADRA is also providing the service free of charge through more than 5,000 e-Sahulat franchises, over 988 NADRA Registration Centres and approximately 500 Union Councils.
Furthermore, pensioners with mobility difficulties can access the facility through NADRA Mobile Registration Vans, Biker Service and other mobile services.
National Register Links Pension Records Digitally
Meanwhile, NADRA has established a National Pensioners Register to provide authenticated digital information about pensionersโ identities and life status.
Initially, the system covers pensioners administered by the CGA and MAG. NADRA will also digitally notify relevant pension controllers when deaths recorded through authorised health facilities or the Civil Registration Management System affect pension records.
Similarly, eligible banks can verify Proof of Life status directly through the register, reducing reliance on repeated physical appearances and paper certificates.
However, NADRA stressed that authorised pension authorities will continue making decisions concerning continuation, modification or termination of pensions.
NADRA plans to expand the register to other federal, provincial, public-sector and eventually private-sector pensioners after completing necessary institutional arrangements.
