Sub-Inspector Hit Near Kamra While Managing Traffic
A National Highways and Motorway Police officer died after being struck by a dumper truck while performing traffic duties near Kamra on the GT Road.
The deceased officer was identified as Sub-Inspector Javed Akbar. He was carrying out routine traffic responsibilities when the heavy vehicle allegedly hit him at high speed.
According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, the officer suffered critical injuries in the collision. Emergency assistance was called, and he was immediately taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Hazro.
Doctors attempted to treat him, but he later died from his injuries.
The incident has caused grief among his colleagues and family members. Motorway Police officials praised him for performing his duties with dedication and professionalism.
Dumper Driver Flees After Fatal Collision
The dumper driver reportedly escaped from the scene immediately after the crash.
Police detained one of the vehicleโs helpers for questioning. A search operation was also launched to locate and arrest the driver.
The Motorway Police spokesperson said the collision was allegedly caused by reckless and negligent driving.
Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the accident. They are expected to review eyewitness statements and any available surveillance footage.
Authorities may also inspect the dumper to determine whether speeding, mechanical failure or another violation contributed to the fatal incident.
The detained helper is being questioned about the driverโs identity, route and possible location.
Officials said legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible for the officerโs death.
Officer Leaves Behind Wife and Five Children
Sub-Inspector Javed Akbar was a resident of Mardan. He is survived by his wife and five children.
His death has left the family facing a devastating personal loss. Fellow officers also expressed sorrow over the death of their colleague while he was performing official duties.
Inspector General of the National Highways and Motorway Police Sultan Ahmad Chaudhry expressed deep grief over the incident.
He offered condolences to the officerโs family and praised Javed Akbarโs commitment to public service.
The inspector general directed officials to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation.
He also ordered authorities to ensure the driver was arrested and brought before the law.
The Motorway Police said the department would continue supporting the bereaved family during the difficult period.
The incident has again highlighted the dangers faced by traffic officers working on busy highways and major roads.
Officials have repeatedly warned drivers of heavy vehicles to follow speed limits, remain alert and obey traffic regulations.
