Dr. Gholam Ali Haddad Adel, the father-in-law of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, thanked Pakistan for expressing condolences over the reported martyrdom of the “Shaheed Rahbar.”
He shared the remarks during an exclusive interview. He also praised Pakistan’s longstanding ties with Iran.
Highlights Khamenei’s Connection With Pakistan
Haddad Adel said Ayatollah Ali Khamenei always showed special interest in Muslims across Pakistan and the subcontinent. He added that this connection existed even before Khamenei became Supreme Leader.
He said Khamenei was among the first Iranian figures to study the works of Allama Iqbal. According to Haddad Adel, Javed Iqbal visited Iran nearly 50 years ago.
He recalled that Khamenei, who was serving as Iran’s president then, delivered a speech on Allama Iqbal. After the event, Javed Iqbal reportedly praised Khamenei’s understanding of Iqbal’s philosophy.
Haddad Adel said this deep appreciation explains Khamenei’s affection for Pakistan and its people.
Discusses Mediation and Health Rumours
Haddad Adel also said Pakistan continues expressing solidarity with the Iranian people through public support. He noted that Islamabad has tried to encourage dialogue between Iran and the United States.
However, he questioned Washington’s intentions behind any future negotiations. He said Iran remains skeptical of the United States despite mediation efforts.
He expressed hope that Pakistan’s diplomatic role could produce positive results. Finally, he dismissed rumours about Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei’s health.
He said the Supreme Leader is completely fine and continues performing his official responsibilities.
