Partnership with Depilex Smileagain Foundation aims to improve mobility, independence and access to opportunities for women rebuilding their lives
LAHORE: Pakistanโs leading digital microfinance institution, Mobilink Bank, has launched a new social investment initiative in collaboration with the Depilex Smileagain Foundation, donating 25 electric scooters to female survivors of acid and kerosene burn violence.
The initiative, introduced under the bankโs corporate social responsibility programme, seeks to help survivors regain independence, improve mobility and access education, healthcare, employment and social opportunities with greater confidence and dignity.
Senior representatives from both organisations attended the signing and handover ceremony in Lahore, where they highlighted mobility as one of the biggest barriers faced by women in Pakistan, especially those trying to rebuild their lives after traumatic experiences.
Project aims to remove mobility barriers for survivors
Under the partnership, Mobilink Bank has provided electric scooters as a long-term support asset for beneficiaries, enabling them to commute safely and independently in their daily lives.
The bank said the decision to provide electric scooters instead of conventional vehicles also aligns with its wider commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility and inclusive growth.
Khowla Shoaib, Head of Strategy and Sustainability at Mobilink Bank, said the initiative is designed to help women move forward on their own terms.
โWomen at DSF have shown immense strength in rebuilding their lives. While we cannot change what they have endured, we can help remove barriers that limit their independence,โ she said. โThrough sustainable mobility, Mobilink Bank is supporting greater access to education, employment, healthcare and everyday opportunities.โ
Depilex foundation says mobility is key to rehabilitation
Depilex Smileagain Foundation founder and president Musarrat Misbah said true rehabilitation goes beyond medical treatment and requires restoring dignity, opportunity and freedom of movement.
โAt DSF, we believe true rehabilitation is about restoring independence and opportunity. Mobility is a critical part of that journey,โ she said, adding that the partnership would allow survivors to pursue work, education and daily responsibilities more freely.
Mobilink Bank said the collaboration reflects its broader ESG-driven approach, which focuses on empowering women, supporting underserved communities and promoting sustainable solutions through inclusive financial services and social impact programmes.
