Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the launch of Muzaffargarhโs first women-focused food street, transforming a previously underutilized area into a vibrant public and commercial hub.
According to official details, the initiative prioritizes economic empowerment by allocating stalls primarily to widows, single mothers, and female vendors. The move aims to create inclusive business opportunities and support women from vulnerable backgrounds by enabling them to establish sustainable livelihoods.
Moreover, authorities have provided extensive facilities to vendors to reduce operational costs. These include complimentary carts, rent-free kiosks, free electricity, and designated parking spaces. As a result, women entrepreneurs can focus on growing their businesses without facing the financial barriers typically associated with setting up small enterprises.
In addition, the project is designed to promote greater participation of women in local economic activities while fostering a supportive environment for entrepreneurship. Officials believe the initiative will not only boost household incomes but also strengthen community engagement and social cohesion.
Meanwhile, the development has significantly improved the urban landscape of Muzaffargarh by converting an idle space into a lively destination. Residents can now gather at the food street for dining and recreational activities, contributing to a more active and inclusive public space.
Furthermore, Maryam Nawaz expressed satisfaction over the projectโs completion, describing it as a step toward empowering women and revitalizing urban centers. She emphasized that similar initiatives could be introduced in other cities to expand opportunities for women and encourage sustainable local development across the province.
