US Ambassador Inaugurates Police Training College in Quetta, Pledges Support for Pakistan’s Economic Progress

The United States Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, recently inaugurated the newly funded Police Training College in Quetta. The college, estimated at a value of $5.35 million, is now fully operational and aims to provide high-quality, skills-based training to police recruits.

This training will enable them to better protect and serve the local communities. The facility includes seven brand-new buildings and four renovated ones. It can now accommodate almost triple the number of personnel, with provisions for women police officers as well.

Ambassador Donald Blome emphasized the United States’ commitment to collaborating with Pakistan for its economic advancement during his address to reporters on Tuesday. He highlighted the determination to address environmental and energy challenges through cooperation.

He underscored the significance of the facility in enhancing safety and promoting women’s representation within the police force, especially in challenging areas of the country. Furthermore, Blome stated the US’s commitment to assisting Pakistan in strengthening community policing efforts.

Regarding infrastructure improvements, Blome mentioned the allocation of $900 million for radio communication equipment, $700 million for vehicles, and $195 million for explosion-proof equipment. These investments are geared towards enhancing operational efficiency and security within the province.

Blome also highlighted US assistance in bolstering Pakistan’s borders to combat terrorism and drug smuggling, emphasizing the collective efforts to make Pakistan safer, stronger, and more secure.

Overall, the ambassador’s remarks underscored a multifaceted approach to collaboration between the United States and Pakistan, aiming at fostering economic progress, improving policing infrastructure, and enhancing security measures.
