ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Friday that the government is launching the Margalla Trail Patrol to safeguard the picturesque trails of Margalla Hills in Islamabad.

In a statement on the social media platform X, Interior Minister emphasized that this initiative is particularly aimed at ensuring the safety of foreigners who frequent these beautiful locations.

The Interior Minister explained that the security measures include trail bikes, horse patrols, and foot patrols.

“We’re launching the *Margalla Trail Patrol* to secure the beautiful trails of Margalla, especially for the safety of foreigners who love exploring them. Our tri-pronged security cover includes Trail Motorcycles, mounted Police (horses), and foot patrolling,” he added.

Earlier, the Wildlife Department confirmed the presence of five leopards in the hiking trails and National Park in Islamabad.

Following these sightings, the Capital Development Authority has closed hiking trail 3 of the Margalla Hills as a precautionary measure.

A spokesperson from the Wildlife Protection Board confirmed the leopard sightings and stated that the closure was necessary for public safety.

In related news, a venomous snake was recently spotted in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills. The administration has warned the public about the potential danger posed by the reptile if provoked.
