Court moved against Punjab chief minister Maryam Nawaz for wearing police uniform

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: The session court has received a request to file a case against Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz for wearing a police uniform.

During a passing-out parade on Thursday, CM Punjab wore police uniform that has led to a debate throughout the country.

According to the plaintiff, Maryam Nawaz’s action of wearing a police official’s uniform is deemed ‘unlawful’ as per the law, which prohibits individuals from wearing state institution uniforms.

The applicant noted that a complaint was lodged with the police against Maryam Nawaz, but no action was taken.

Therefore, the applicant urges the court to direct the registration of a case against Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz.

The court has postponed the hearing in the case until April 29.

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz attended a police passing-out parade in Lahore, clad in a police uniform.

During the event, she received a guard of honor and presented prizes to outstanding performers from the Police Training College. As the chief guest, she inspected the parade.

In her address, the Punjab CM expressed her government’s desire to increase the number of female police officers.

She remarked, “I realized the enormity of this responsibility after wearing the police uniform.”
