95% rioters Identified, 60% Arrested in May 9 Violent Incidents:

During the federal cabinet meeting on Wednesday, presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, it was revealed that authorities had identified almost 95% of those responsible for the violent incidents on May 9.

Additionally, 60% of the offenders had previously been arrested.

The urgency of finding and apprehending individuals responsible for the events of May 9 was emphasised at the meeting.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing, no innocent people should be unjustly jailed in connection with these incidents.

In expressing his support for the country’s victims and their families, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasised both their sacrifice and the need to safeguard the future of the younger generations.

The Prime Minister further emphasised the significance of adhering to all legal requirements when pursuing those responsible for these criminal actions.

Only those closely connected to the incidents, according to him, were detained.

A comprehensive briefing was provided regarding the extent of damage inflicted upon both private and public properties during the regrettable incidents on May 9.

Authorities have filed cases against those responsible for attacks on public and private structures and properties.

Both the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Pakistan Penal Code were used to file the cases. The Army Act will be used to prosecute anyone who has strong evidence connecting them to attacks on sensitive installations.

It was emphasised that decisions taken in accordance with the Army Act may be challenged by higher courts.

Additionally, videos, images, and pertinent locations related to the incidents on May 9 were presented during a briefing on facial recognition technology by NADRA that was part of the meeting.

National Security Committee meeting

The National Security Committee meeting on May 16 resolutions were strictly carried out, and the cabinet reaffirmed.

The cabinet also ordered efficient actions to counter PTI propaganda in numerous friendly nations.

The Road to Makkah Project, which aims to assist Pakistani pilgrims by enabling them to finish their immigration process in Pakistan, in order to save them time and effort on their journey to Saudi Arabia, was thoroughly explained.

The project’s implementation was considered; it was started via a document that was signed on May 17.

During the meeting, it was also conveyed that in the coming year, the project would be expanded to include other airports across the country.

This expansion would enable a total of 75,000 pilgrims to benefit from the facilitated immigration process.
