Citizens Need Only Original CNIC for License Process
Islamabad Traffic Police has announced that its driving license system has been fully converted into a paperless and cashless model.
According to police officials, the new system has been introduced on the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The aim is to make the licensing process faster, simpler and more convenient for citizens.
Under the modernised system, all major steps related to obtaining a driving license have been shifted to digital platforms.
Applicants will no longer need to carry multiple documents during the process. Officials said citizens will now only be required to bring their original Computerized National Identity Card to complete the procedure.
The move is expected to reduce paperwork, save time and improve transparency in the licensing system.
It also removes the need for cash payments at licensing centres, which can help reduce delays and improve public service delivery.
Digital Payments Introduced for Licensing Fees
Under the new system, applicants can pay their licensing fees through any banking application or alternative digital payment channel.
Police officials said the cashless payment facility will make the process easier for people who previously had to visit banks or carry cash for official payments.
The digital system is also expected to help authorities maintain better records and reduce manual handling of applications.
Officials described the initiative as part of broader efforts to modernise government services through technology.
The shift toward paperless and cashless processing reflects the growing use of digital solutions in public departments.
For citizens, the change means fewer documents, faster processing and a smoother experience at licensing offices.
Rawalpindi Woman Makes HTV License History
The development comes as nearby Rawalpindi also witnessed a milestone in driving licensing.
A woman named Humaira Naseer became the first female driver to obtain a Heavy Transport Vehicle driving license from Rawalpindi Traffic Police.
She secured the license after successfully passing the commercial HTV driving test. The assessment included a dumper driving test at the Old Varan Depot on Peshawar Road in Saddar, Rawalpindi.
According to City Traffic Police Rawalpindi, Humaira completed the entire process on merit.
Speaking after receiving her license, she praised the transparent system and guidance provided by traffic police officials. She said their cooperation made the process easier for her.
Both developments reflect a wider push toward improved licensing services, public convenience and equal access to professional driving opportunities.
